Favorite Event: Impromptu

What do you look forward to at nationals?
“At Nationals, I look forward first to being challenged and pushed to the limits of my skills. And I also look forward to meeting other debaters from across the nation and debating them.”

Favorite Hobbies:
“My two favorite hobbies are composing/playing music and writing. I’m actually intending to record a short album over the summer with songs I’ve written.”

How has speech and/or debate benefited you?
“Debate has given me a good understanding of economics and issues, a clear understanding of government and the essentials and principles in policymaking. Also, doing speech and debate has cured me of the shyness/fear of speaking to strangers I had when I first started. It has given me the ability to think fast and react to unusual situations.”

Favorite memory from the year:
“My favorite memory from doing speech this year would be competing in all my events at Regionals, and getting to see other funny/interesting speeches. At Regionals, I treated every round as if it was a final or semifinal round and gave it all my effort. I had a lot of fun.”
