Favorite Event: Duo Interpretation

What do you look forward to at nationals?
“I can’t narrow it down to one aspect; there are far too many things I look forward to! The competition, the people, the travel and overall experience, and the opportunity to glorify God; each of these alone is enough to make me excited about nationals. “

Favorite Hobbies:
“I enjoy music and playing airsoft.”

How has speech and/or debate benefited you?
“Speech and debate with the NCFCA has affected me more than anything other than my faith. It has changed the way I think and communicate to the point of helping to form and defend my worldview. It fueled my interest in government, politics, economics, national security, and international affairs, and inspired me to pursue an education and career in that direction. At the same time, debate has equipped me to pursue and uphold my beliefs and ambitions with increased public speaking ability, research skills, logical thinking, and writing. On top of all this, the value of the raw knowledge of governmental policy, philosophy, and current events has been immeasurable. As an added benefit, debate provided the opportunity to sharpen these skills and refine this knowledge through competition and relationships with other debaters. No other academic activity has been of as much benefit to me as my time in speech and debate. ”

Favorite memory from the year:
“Watching George Nye’s impromptu speech on the phrase ‘no spring chicken.’ It was the best and worst impromptu speech I’ve ever seen. If it doesn’t become NCFCA legend, it should.”
