Favorite Event: Expository
What do you look forward to at nationals?
“I look forward to seeing friends that I have not seen very much this year. I also look forward to seeing all the speech events. Getting new ideas and learning how I can do better next year. Most of all, I look forward to seeing how God has worked in people’s lives in getting them to Nationals.”
Favorite Hobbies:
Well, I like drawing and reading, some of my favorite pastimes. I think most of my favorite pastime memories are ones with my family! I you want one in particular it would have to be mother’s day camping with friends and family every year. This year a bunch of speech and debate people are coming so that will be really fun!
How has speech and/or debate benefited you?
“After three years of being forced to stand up and spit out what I’m feeling or thinking in a more logical and entertaining way it’s become quite easy to interact and communicate with anyone I meet on the street, in daily life, or even around my home. But like they say, “Practice makes perfect”. Those skills didn’t happen overnight. Debate and speech also taught me patience and hard work gets you to where you wish to be or even sometimes to where you should be.”
Favorite memory from the year:
“I have only done speech so far. But speech has helped me a lot in giving me confidence when speaking in front of people. My parents still can’t believe that it’s the same girl, who would hardly get up in front of people last year, and now is going to Nationals this year. I almost can’t believe it myself!!! Also by doing events like apologetic it has helped in building my faith up. I understand a lot of things about God, the Bible and what it means to be a Christian now then I ever have. Speech and debate has also helped me reach out to new people and make many new friends that.”
